About Idle 

Looking ahead to 2025, Anyday is excited to introduce Idle — a new café concept set to take over the existing Agnes Bakery site in New Farm. Idle will offer a full café experience, expanding on its roots in pastries, breads, and cakes to include cooked-to-order seasonal dishes, fresh salads, and house-made pantry staples such as churned butter, sauces, and marinades. It is a place where guests can enjoy a thoughtful, ingredient-led menu and take home the flavours of the Anyday kitchens.

The Role

Idle is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the team through this exciting opening. This role is ideal for a senior chef who thrives in high-volume service environments and is looking for a lifestyle-focused opportunity with daytime hours. You will be responsible for guiding the culinary direction of the venue, driving consistency, quality and innovation in a collaborative and fast-paced kitchen. • Demonstrated experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume environment.

• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide, inspire and mentor the team
• Proven experience with cost control, wages, and rostering
• Commitment to delivering a consistent and high-quality food offering
• Confidence in managing food safety, compliance and kitchen operations
• Ability to develop and train staff while fostering a positive team culture
• Interest in innovation and evolving the café offering with seasonal menus
• Experience working with charcoal is highly regarded
